Top 5 Hip and Easy Costumes for this Halloween

Superheroes, supervillains, the latest horror movies… Film and TV have always played a big role in how we celebrate Halloween. Hollywood productions never cease to amaze us with their larger-than-life costumes, hyper-realistic special effects and truly legendary characters.

We’ve put together a list of the five most popular costumes for this Halloween, along with what makeup and outfits to wear to make you really stand out.

1. Venom

Spiderman’s evil alter ego. In this movie – coming out just in time for Halloween – an unknown alien substance takes control of a journalist, turning him into Venom. Venom uses his new super-powers to investigate a society that is conducting experiments on humans.

To make your own Venom costume, you’ll need:

  • Black pants or tights
  • A fitted black t-shirt
  • Black boots
  • Black gloves
  • Black, white and red makeup
  • Venom contact lenses

No need to overcomplicate things. A good Venom costume is created by using super white makeup around the eyes and then painting on numerous very long and pointy teeth. Then add a pair of Venom costume contact lenses to achieve that truly mind-blowing wow effect!

2. White Walker

Winter is coming! And we’re not just talking about the Canadian winter (scary enough as that can be at times!). The White Walkers from the Game of Throne series are terrifying creatures of the living dead who have risen out of the cold to annihilate and then reign over the seven kingdoms.

To look like a White Walker, you’ll need:

  • White hair dye (spray)
  • White makeup
  • Dark, torn clothing
  • White Walker contact lenses

This costume is also pretty easy to pull off. It’s all about the makeup, the hair and the eyes. Get inspired by watching the series or even one of your favourite zombie movies. Dye your hair white and make up your face so that your skin looks deathly cold. The real key to the costume is the eyes. With our White Walker contact lenses, not even Jon Snow could resist you!

3. Pennywise from the movie It (adapted from the Stephen King novel)

Pennywise is by far the scariest clown on the big screen. This clown devours children in order to maintain his immortality. He’s a far cry from Ronald MacDonald

To create your own Pennywise costume, you’ll need:

  • A red wig
  • White makeup
  • Red lipstick
  • Flowing white or grey clothes
  • White gloves
  • A red balloon
  • Pennywise contact lenses

It’s the head and the eyes that really pull this one off! Don’t try to get your makeup too perfect. In fact, if it’s a bit sloppy, it’ll seem all the more realistic. Evil clowns aren’t really known for their attention to detail!

4. The possessed nun from the movie The Nun

You have good reason to be afraid of this nun… and not just because of some boring sermons or getting the strap. This story tells of a demon named Valak who takes possession of a nun in the 1950s. This is one horror movie that’s sure to send shivers down your spine!

To pull off this costume from The Nun, you’ll need:

  • A long-sleeved, long black dress
  • A piece of rope (for the belt)
  • A white t-shirt (for the tunic and veil)
  • A black towel (to go over the t-shirt
  • Black and white makeup
  • Black lipstick
  • Hellraiser II contact lenses

Here’s another costume that’s super easy to pull off. Paint your face white and colour around your eyes with black. Pull on the dress. Then, put the t-shirt around your head and cover it with the black towel. The final touch: Hellraiser II contact lenses that are sure to send anyone looking to confess running!

5. Wonder Woman

One of the first female superheroes ever created and the most well-known even today. Her shield and her magic lasso are her weapons of choice, and her superpowers are a gift from the Greek gods. She’s clearly a match for any of her male counterparts!

To make a Wonder Woman costume, you’ll need:

  • A red one-piece bathing suit or tank top
  • A blue skirt or shorts
  • Red rubber boots
  • A black wig (as needed)
  • A rope to make a lasso
  • Tinfoil to protect your forearms
  • Captain Super Hero contact lenses

Your Halloween night is sure to be “wonderful” with this one. You just need to throw on the costume and you’re good to go. Since the eyes count for 90% of the look, you can bet that our Captain Super Hero contact lenses will really pull it all together. Now you just need to get out there and find yourself a Super Man!
